Shruti Belliappa

Shruti Belliappa is an art historian, advisor and theorist specialising in postwar and contemporary art. Since 2012, she has worked on strategic acquisitions and curating) for a global roster of clients, including three significant private art collections based in the US, Europe and Brazil, overseeing their transformation into museum quality collections.

From 2021, she is also the Founding Editor and Publisher of Hanuman Editions, writings by a transnational artistic and literary avant-garde orienting from the legendary and cult 20th century series, Hanuman Books, published between southern India and New York City during the pivotal cultural era of the Vietnam War, the AIDS crisis and the end of the Cold War. Since its inception, Hanuman Editions has gone on to become a globally distributed small press, publishing cutting-edge content with a staunch following worldwide.collectors in Brazil, NY etc

In the lull of the pandemic, she began her doctoral research at the Visual Cultures department at Goldsmiths College London interrogating borders, artificial life, and the technologies of belonging. At present, she is writing up her thesis conclusions. As a devotee of the written word as much as the visual arts, her long term projects include Notes on Grief, a book of non-fiction and a novel entitled Home Is the Place You Left.
